Tree Service in Starwood
In Starwood the tree work is ordinary. Getting to the tree, and getting leave to cut it, takes the planning.
Two Kinds of Tree on One Property
One real estate guide describes Starwood as a 550-acre gated community of homes built from 1996 to 2006, with wooded trails, creeks, lakes and waterfalls.
That description contains two different tree populations. The first is the planted one: shade trees set out with each house, now 20 to 30 years old and large. The second is whatever was growing along the creeks before the streets were laid, kept as part of the trails and common areas. A lot that backs to a creek corridor can have both, a planted oak by the driveway and older native trees at the rear line.
They age differently and they belong to different parties. Trees in the common areas and along the trails are the association's. A homeowner's crew has no business in them, even when a limb from one is over the back fence.

Planning a Job Behind the Gate
- Gate list. A tree service needs to be on the guard's list for the day, with its truck and chipper. Arrange that when the job is booked.
- Association approval. Gated communities with an architectural committee commonly require sign-off before a tree is removed, and sometimes before major pruning. This site has not read Starwood's documents; the management office can tell you what applies.
- Large lots, large equipment. Estate-size homes and deep back yards sometimes allow a lift or a crane where a smaller lot would not. They also have pools, outdoor kitchens and stonework to protect.
- Working hours. Many associations limit contractor hours and weekend work.
On May 28, 2024, gusts of 80 mph were reported in Frisco and trees were uprooted across the city. The trees most exposed to wind like that are large planted ones with two-stem forks, and Starwood's planted trees are in that size class now.
