Frisco Tree Care Pros: Questions and Answers
How the referral works, what tree work involves in Frisco, and what the city does and does not do.
Eleven Answers
Who actually does the work?
An independent tree service based in the Frisco area. Frisco Tree Care Pros passes your request along and steps back. The contractor's name, quote, crew and insurance are its own.
What does it cost to use this site?
Nothing. If you hire the tree service, you pay it for the work. The site may receive a referral fee from the contractor.
Why are there no prices listed?
No published Frisco pricing could be verified, and tree work is quoted by sight: height, spread, what is underneath, how equipment gets in. A number on a web page would be a guess.
Is the tree service insured?
Ask for a certificate of general liability insurance before work starts, and ask whether the crew is covered for injuries. Texas has no state tree-trimming license that this site could find, so insurance is the main protection.
Will I be talking to a certified arborist?
Ask for one if you want a diagnosis or a second opinion on a removal. ISA Certified Arborist is a voluntary credential and not every crew leader holds it.
What is the best time of year for tree work in Frisco?
Removals happen year-round. Most pruning is easiest in the dormant months. Oaks should not be pruned from February through June because of oak wilt. Storm damage is handled when it happens.
My tree is the same as every other tree on the street. Is that a problem?
It is typical of Frisco, where builders planted to meet a city requirement. It does mean a pest or a storm that harms one tends to harm many, which is the concern with ash trees and emerald ash borer.
Does the city trim the tree between my sidewalk and the street?
Responsibility for street trees varies by subdivision between the owner and the HOA. Trees in parks and medians are the city's. Check your HOA documents.
What do I do with branches after a storm?
Frisco collects small amounts as yard waste: three-foot lengths, bundles of 30 pounds or less, compostable twine. The city says it has no program for whole or large portions of trees. Residents can also use the Custer Road Transfer Station in Plano. Frisco Environmental Services is at 972-292-5900.
Which areas are covered?
All of Frisco, plus Prosper, Plano, McKinney, Little Elm, The Colony and Allen.
Is it safe to do my own tree trimming?
Hand pruning from the ground on a small tree, yes. Anything involving a ladder, a chainsaw overhead, a limb over a structure or a nearby wire is a job for a crew with the equipment.
A Question That Is Not Here
Ask it on the phone. If it is about a specific tree, somebody needs to see the tree anyway.
