Tree Service in Prosper

Directly north of Frisco, and about five years younger.

The Youngest Trees on This Site's Map

Census survey figures put the median year built for Prosper's housing at 2014, against 2009 for Frisco. Half of Prosper's homes, and the trees that came with them, are newer than that.

The questions from a new lot are different from the questions in an established one. Nobody in a 2021 house is worried about a limb on the roof. They are asking why the tree by the driveway has not grown, whether the stakes should still be on, and why the leaves scorch every August.

  • Stakes and ties are meant to come off once a tree stands on its own. Left on, they cut into the bark.
  • Planting depth. The flare at the base of the trunk should be visible above the soil and mulch. Trees set too deep struggle for years.
  • Summer scorch on a recently planted tree usually reflects a small root system in hot clay, and often eases as the tree establishes.
  • Early structure. The first corrective pruning, a few small cuts, is best done within the first several years.

Acreage and Edges

Prosper also has what Frisco has largely run out of: larger tracts, older farmsteads and fence lines with trees on them that predate any subdivision. Clearing those is a different scale of job from yard work, and it runs into different rules.

Prosper is its own town with its own ordinances. Everything this site says about permits is drawn from the City of Frisco's code and does not carry across US 380. Before removing trees from undeveloped or recently platted land in Prosper, ask the town.

Emerald ash borer does not follow town limits. It was confirmed in Collin County in 2024, and part of Prosper lies in Denton County as well; an ash on either side deserves the same attention.
