Tree Service in Plantation Resort

One of Frisco's earlier big subdivisions has some of its biggest subdivision trees.

Twenty-Four to Thirty-Eight Years of Growth

One real estate guide dates the homes in Plantation Resort from 1988 to 2002, around an 18-hole golf course with lakes and ponds. A shade tree planted with one of those houses has been growing for between 24 and 38 years.

That is long enough for the story to have moved past shaping and clearance. Trees here have reached their working size. Crowns meet over driveways, limbs extend well across the roof, and the trunk flare has had time to find the sidewalk. The faults that structural pruning would have caught in 1998 are now built into the tree.

The Usual Requests

  • Roof and chimney clearance on trees that now overhang the house by several feet.
  • Weight reduction on long horizontal limbs, particularly over fences shared with a neighbor.
  • Deadwood removal from large crowns.
  • Removal of trees that have outgrown the spot, often fast-growing species planted close to the slab.
  • Stump grinding and a replacement tree, to keep the lot at its required count.

Along the course

A tree on the golf course side of a back fence belongs to whoever owns that land, which is not the homeowner. Limbs from a course tree hanging into a yard are worth raising with the course or the association before anyone cuts. Texas law on overhanging limbs is a matter for a lawyer, not for this page.

Work on mature oaks here follows the oak calendar: nothing routine from February through June, and every cut painted.
